Vincent Van Gogh's Dinner Evening

Vincent Van Gogh's Dinner evening
Vincent Van Gogh, a post-impressionist artist originally from the Netherlands, is famed for his bold colors, expressive brushwork, and emotional intensity. Throughout his life, he encountered diverse individuals, forming friendships while also meeting passing acquaintances.

His life was filled not only with encounters but also with numerous sacrifices, most of them voluntary on Vincent's part. On many occasions, he gave everything he had to others. He faced multiple episodes of poverty like while in the mining region of Belgium, where he was a preacher. Despite his own hunger, he prioritized giving his food to those he deemed in greater need than himself.
The project consists of developing communication supports, all for a dinner organized by Vincent Van Gogh himself. The objective is therefore to develop communication supports as well as visual concepts for this evening.

The inspiration is drawn from Vincent's paintings, with a particular emphasis on lemons, which were often featured in his still lifes. Additionally, the color palette used by the painter, and facts about his life were taken into account.
The poster dedicated to the dinner was created using the collage technique. On it, not only is The Starry Night recognizable (where the stars are presented in the form of lemons), but especially the painting The Potato Eaters. This painting evokes the reunion of a family after a long day, gathering around to share a meal.
The invitations are reminiscent of the numerous letters that Vincent sent to his beloved brother Theo, which why each one is written by hand. The front part of the invitations utilizes the cold palette that the painter favored.
The menu was designed with a primitive art style to evoke the simplistic life led by Vincent Van Gogh. This was achieved through the use of collage technique and the accentuation of the yellow color of the lemons.
“Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.”
